The session will provide an introduction to absorption refrigeration for commercial and industrial applications.  The basics of the absorption cycle, comparisons to other technologies and sample projects will be presented.

A tour of Aztech’s facility will follow the presentation.  The 24,000 SF building was constructed in 2006 with a standing column geothermal system and electric water source heat pumps. In 2011, a natural gas fired absorption heat pump was added to the system and heats the radiant floor in the shop.

John Ciovacco is the President of Aztech Geothermal where he develops projects to best utilize Aztech’s strengths in engineering design, predictive cost modeling, energy monitoring and practical field experience. John is a resource to building owners, construction companies, engineers, architects and investors regarding the latest renewable and energy efficiency technologies, government incentives and project financing options. He is an IGSHPA Accredited Geothermal Installer, a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Contractor, American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education Presenter, and a Certified Green Professional with the NAHB. John has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Union College.
